Curriculum
Trinity Day School is structured to develop all facets of a child: spiritual, social, cognitive, physical, and emotional. We believe that the early formative years are crucial for optimum development, and our program is child-centered and experience based.
Our curriculum is organized around central themes related to a monthly Bible Verse and offers a variety of activities at each age level to encourage socialization and stimulate curiosity and creativity. Each unit promotes language, math, and reading readiness skill through a balance of structured and free choice activities. Opportunities will exist for your child to work in groups and individually, and we seek to blend new learning experiences with those your child already brings from home.
We believe that a child's play is a young child's work and natural way of learning. Children will learn pre-math, pre-reading, and socialization skills through carefully planned lessons and learning centers that include :
Other activities will include cooking experiences, field trips, and resource speakers. Our teachers work hard to plan activities that make learning a fun, engaging process, and your children will be busy exploring, growing, and enjoying school.
Reading - Children in 2's and 3's will be introduced to Zoo-Phonics. In the 4 and 5 year old classes, particular attention is paid to reading readiness. The Abeka reading program is used for phonics and instruction and comprehension in K5. Children are also taught pre-reading skills through quality children's literature and through the introduction of high frequency words in K4.
Math - The students at Trinity Day School are given daily opportunities to explore math concepts (shapes, numbers, measurement, counting, graphing, and sorting). All of our age groups use a variety of hands-on manipulatives, and we incorporate the Abeka math curriculum in our five year old classes.
Music - The students at Trinity Day School (3, 4, and 5 year olds) will attend Music class every week. The children learn songs, play instruments, and participate in both a Christmas and End-of-the-Year program. Two year olds will have music experiences in their classroom.
PE - 3, 4, and 5 year old children will have weekly PE time. They'll work on various gross motor skills and will enjoy a variety of games and activities using balls, parachutes, and other fun equipment.
Religion - A a Christian Day School, we provide regular, non-denominational religious teachings. Children are taught that God plays a part in every aspect of our lives and that He is there for com for as well as guidance. The Bible is used as a source for stories, songs, and daily living and the children will learn Bible verses monthly that relate to the unit of study being taught. Chapel is held weekly for all classes. The goal of Chapel is to help the children gain a clearer understanding of God and their relationship with Him. Religious songs are part of our Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter celebrations. A short prayer is said before snack and lunch every day.
